Chateau d’Abzac was built in 1796 and has been in the d’Anglade family since. The close to 40 hectares are made of Merlot (90%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (7%). The average age of the vineyard is 25 years. The terroir is that we call the “gunz gravel” (along the river called Isle and towards Libourne up to Pomerol). It has a clay layer surrounded by thick red gravel which creates a terrific “natural irrigation system”.
